Skin Care Treatments are ideal for cases such as Eye Surgery for Upper and Lower Lid (Blepharoplasty), Face lift (Rhytidectomy) as well as a Mid/Lower Face Lift, or Laser procedure.
Skin that is clean and healthy is a must before your surgery. Skin that is supple and pliable will respond its best, allowing the surgeon to achieve outstanding results. A very important step that you do not want to miss. Marta Rey will recommend the perfect treatment action for your skin type and condition. More than one treatment maybe necessary to achieve best results.
It is important to mention that any surgery such as a Face Lift, Eye Lift will require post surgical Lymphatic Drainage Massage administered as a series of treatments to help achieve the most successful outcome. Lymphatic Drainage will help speed the healing process, maintain the results achieved through surgery, and improve the skins overall youthfulness and health.
Plastic surgery patients experience post operative bruising, tightness and swelling of skin tissues. These skin reactions are a natural result of trauma that the skin experiences during surgery. Marta helps drain away the excess fluids and waste products which surround the cells, aiding in the distribution of nourishing elements to the skin, and preventing the lymph from stagnating and producing swelling of the tissues. Think of it as a holistic therapy "tune up" designed to invigorate your lymphatic system. More than one treatment is required for best results.
As with any cosmetic surgery, there are potential risk of side effects such as poor scarring, bruises, and swelling. To minimize these negative results Marta Rey offers Lymphatic Drainage Massage Therapy to assist her clients recovering from cosmetic surgery. WHAT IS THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM?
One of the eleven systems that make up our human anatomy includes the Lymphatic System. This system is responsible for carrying excess fluid, bacteria, proteins, and waste materials from the tissues, thus cleansing the tissues of debris. Once fluid, etc. enter the lymphatic system they are called lymph. The lymph is transported to lymph nodes where it is cleansed and filtered and then it is returned to the blood stream. It plays an important role in the body’s defense against infection.
In the healing phase following surgery, waste products can build up in the local tissues. These waste products can increase and prolong swelling, inflammation and pain during the healing phase. Lymphatic Drainage Massage Therapy improves lymph flow and accelerates the removal of these waste products to speed up the healing process.
WHAT IS LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE MASSAGE (LDM) THERAPY?WHAT IS THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM?
Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a technique used to provide relief from edema, an accumulation of fluids in the tissues that causes swelling. It is a gentle massage that stimulates the immune system and improves the appearance of the skin. LDM is used after surgery, to help reduce edema/swelling and speed up healing. During LDM, muscles relax heart and breathe rate decrease, and clients move into a state of relaxation that promotes healing and balance. Scar tissue becomes smaller, smoother, more flexible and stronger.
HOW IS LDM APPLIED?
The massage consists of a series of very gentle, rhythmic massage strokes that increases the transport of lymph flow through the tissues. It is also accompanied by gentle “pumping” and flushing of the actual lymph nodes. Strokes last a few seconds and are repeated five to ten times in each area. This is followed by a slow, controlled decrease in pressure into the resting phase. The goal of LDM is to reroute the lymph fluid around areas that are blocked and gently move it into areas with healthy lymph vessels where the lymph fluid can drain normally.
Performing an effective lymphatic drainage massage requires special knowledge, training and experience. The therapist must understand how the lymphatic system works, both anatomically and physiologically, in order to move the fluid effectively. Marta Rey skillfully performs LDM with excellent results.
