Wear Sunscreen Every Day Rain Or Shine
Use a full spectrum sunscreen with at least a SPF 25. Look for a non sticky, odorless, and fine consistency formula that can be apply on top of your moisturizer, without feeling heavy. If traveling to warmer climates, or skiing, remember to reapply it often, usually every two hours.
Exfoliate… Exfoliate… Exfoliate
The skin of a regular young adult takes a full 28 days to replenish, and as we get older the cells get lazy and need help. You would help your skin jump-start the renewal process by exfoliating regularly. If your skin is normal or dry use a cleanser with salicylic acid two times a week, and if your skin is oily, it will benefit from this ingredient every day. The cleanser will help dissolve the glue that hold dead skin cell together and help the skin better absorb anti-aging and hydrating creams and moisturizers. A professional peel is also recommended once a month. I recommend a Salicylic Peel for an oily skin, and a Jessner or Glycolic Peel for a normal, mature or dry skin.
Moisturize After Showering
Showers specially hot ones strip the skin from oils., so make sure you apply a face and body moisturizer immediately after you shower and preferably when your skin is still damp. Choose products rich in Hyaluronic acid, Vitamins and Anti-Oxidants.
Remove Your Make Up At Night And Before Exercising
If you do not remove your make up, you are asking for trouble. It will mix with oils, dirt, bacteria and free radicals on the skin, causing you all sort of skin problems such as blemishes and unwanted sensitivities. Also, clean your skin immediately after exercising, do not wait to get home or meet a friend for coffee before you do so. This apply to your body skin as well.
Do Not Squeeze Pimples
If you do, you will spread the infection underneath the tissue, and it will take the pimple more time to clear up, which translates into two to three more weeks. You are better off cleaning your face more often during the day, and avoid applying heavy make up or camouflage creme over it. A topical cream within salicylic acid or a hydrocortisone cream can help calm the inflammation. Remember not squeezing blemishes will also prevent future marks and scars.
Clean Your Make Up Brushes.
Make up and skin oils build up on your brushes are a breathing ground for bacteria. Please clean your brushes once a week with an antibacterial soap or baby shampoo in lukewarm water. Squeeze all excess water, reshape them and place them on top of a clean washcloth or tissue to dry. They will be ready for you the next morning.
Remember Your Hands
Your hands just like your face will reveal your age. Treat them as good as your face. Exfoliated them, hydrate them and protect them with at least an SPF25 every day. Do not use to harsh soaps when doing dishes, and better yet, protect them with rubber gloves before you touch a dirty dish. Your hands will thank you for it.
